The Funky Monkey Adrenaline Junkie adventure vacation includes great hotels both at Arenal Volcano and Manuel Antonio, two of the top destinations in Costa Rica. While in the Arenal rainforest, you’ll go whitewater rafting down Rio Balsa’s Class ll and lll rapids one day, then scaling three waterfalls as part of an incredible canyoning experience the next. Afterward, you can luxuriate in the onsite hot spring-fed pools at Arenal Manoa Hotel and Spa while gazing out at the majestic volcano. Next, you’ll change course to visit the beach at Manuel Antonio, listed as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Here you’ll go ziplining through a biologically dense jungle over 12 cables stopping at 22 platforms. On your last day, you are free to explore the area on your own or just hang out at the beach or at Shana Hotel’s pool to relax and unwind from all your exciting adventures. Your trip begins when you arrive at San Jose International Airport. Our representative will be waiting for you and then will provide a private transfer to La Fortuna. This little town sits right at the base of Arenal Volcano and buzzes with excitement as a central hub for rainforest activities and ecotourism. Arenal is Costa Rica’s #1 destination for adventure and hot springs. It’s also one of the most beautiful regions in the country.

You’ll spend the first three nights at the Arenal Manoa Hotel and Spa located across from the iconic volcano. The comfortable spacious rooms are surrounded by vast gardens, a natural hot springs fed pool for soaking and a regular swimming pool, both with poolside bars and amazing volcano views. Over the next couple of days, you’ll go on thrilling jungle tours including whitewater rafting on the Rio Balsa and a canyoning experience rappelling down three waterfalls! You’ll also have plenty of time to explore this beautiful area on your own. We’d recommend checking out the small town of La Fortuna for souvenirs, coffee, chocolate and ice cream shops, restaurants, and more. Don’t forget to set aside time back at the hotel to luxuriate in the hot springs fed pool!

After you’ve explored Arenal, we’ll provide a transfer down to the coastal town of Manuel Antonio for you to enjoy a few days of fun at one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Manuel Antonio is known also for its lush jungle rimming the shoreline supporting loads of wildlife, including monkeys and sloths, plus Costa Rica’s most popular national park. You’ll stay at the Shana Hotel, located in the hillside resort area, backed by jungle and overlooking the Central Pacific coast. Your adventure continues the next day when you’ll go on a high-flying, high-speed canopy zipline adventure deep in a rich biological corridor! Your last full day will be yours to explore on your own, play at the beach, visit the park, or just relax at the pool enjoying the spectacular view.

On Day 7 we’ll provide a private transfer for you to go back to the airport, scheduled according to your flight plans.

Itinerary

Day 1: Welcome to Costa Rica and on to Arenal Volcano!

Our representative will be waiting to greet you as you arrive at San Jose International Airport. Then we will provide a private transfer to the town of La Fortuna at the foot of Arenal Volcano, where you will stay at the Arenal Manoa Hotel and Spa. This hotel offers onsite hot springs pools.

Day 2: Whitewater Rafting Rio Balsa (B, L)

You’ll go on an exciting whitewater rafting tour down the Rio Balsa known for its Class II and III rapids. After rafting, a hearty lunch will be provided at a nearby farm where you can enjoy experiencing the local culture. Be sure to unwind back at the hotel’s hot springs fed pools when you return from today’s adventure.

Day 3: Canyoning Pure Trek Ultimate Adventure Rappel (B, L)

This thrilling tour will have you scrambling through a stream that cuts through a canyon deep in the rainforest. Along the way you’ll rappel down three different waterfalls and one canyon wall. Be sure to wear clothes that can get wet and dirty!

Day 4: Transfer to Manuel Antonio Beach (B)

We’ll provide a transfer through the mountains then over to the coast to Manuel Antonio Beach, Here you’ll be staying at the Shana Hotel, a hillside resort surrounded by jungle where you may actually see some real funky monkeys!

Day 5: Canopy Zipline – Titi Canopy (B)

Today’s Titi Canopy Zipline course will have you soaring through the forest treetops on 12 steel zipline cables of varying lengths and heights stopping on 22 platforms! At the end you can do a rappel and Tarzan swing if you like (go for it!).
