The Tamarindo Occidental Resort Vacation, set in Playa Langosta, provides a fun mix of resort and ocean activities while exploring beautiful Pacific beaches. Previously called the Barcelo Langosta Resort, this affordable all-inclusive hotel located just south of Tamarindo on a quieter laid back beach is well known as a premier surf destination. This vacation includes a surf lesson for either beginner or experienced surfers, as well as a guided ocean kayak and snorkeling trip to make sure you experience everything the sea has to offer. You will be greeted at the Liberia International Airport by our representative who will provide a transfer to the all-inclusive Tamarindo Occidental Resort located at Playa Langosta, just below Tamarindo on the Pacific coast. No activities are planned for Day 2 so you can enjoy your resort’s many onsite amenities such as daytime and evening activities, sports courts, swimming pool, Jacuzzi, gym, and playground to name a few, plus all meals, snacks, and domestic drinks, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The scenic beach in front of the hotel is good for lounging and beachcombing but not always swimmer-friendly, so we'd recommend taking advantage of the resort’s freeform swimming pool. However, the surf breaks in this area offer excellent surf conditions for experienced surfers. About a 20-minute walk will take you up to Tamarindo where you’ll find a calmer beach for swimming and water sports. Tamarindo also offers plenty of unique shops, restaurants, and bars that you can explore located right on the beach, as well as a vibrant nightlife with live music and dancing.
On Day 3 you’ll be picked up at the resort and taken to Playa Tamarindo for an exciting surf lesson. A professional instructor will go over every detail before taking you and your surfboard out into the calmer waters found at Tamarindo. With personalized attention, you’ll learn how to use the board and will have plenty of fun time to practice. Experienced surfers can learn some new moves! Day 4 will give you another free day to enjoy your resort and explore the local area. You might like to check out the nearby Marino Las Baulas National Park, home of seasonally nesting sea turtles.
On Day 5, you’ll be picked up for an ocean kayaking adventure and taken to the access point. Your experienced guide will provide a kayak, paddle and life jacket before leading you out to an island where you’ll land to go snorkeling over rock and coral formations in shallow water. The next day you will once again have time on your own to enjoy your last day in Costa Rica, doing as little or as much as you’d like. You can always add an additional tour to your vacation as our packages are all customizable. On Day 7, we’ll provide you with a private transfer back to the Liberia International Airport according to your flight schedule and get you there three hours before your flight time.

Welcome to Costa Rica! When you touch down at the Liberia International Airport (contact us for details if arriving at a different airport), you will receive a VIP Airport Greeting by a Pacific Trade Winds representative. Transportation will then be provided over to Playa Langosta where you will stay at the all-inclusive Occidental Tamarindo Resort.

Day 2: Free Day to Explore on Your Own (B, L, D - AI)
Today is your own to sit back, relax, and enjoy the tropical sunshine, the surf, and shady palm trees, plus all the amenities at your resort location. Or you may choose to check out the vibe at nearby Tamarindo lined with shops and restaurants right on the beach and maybe catch a little live music.

Day 3: Surf Lesson (B, L, D - AI)
Whether you are a seasoned surfer or a first timer, surfing provides loads of fun for everyone. You’ll be taken to Tamarindo for your surf lesson taught by a professional surf instructor using high-quality surfboards. Hang Ten! (Minimum age 6)

Day 4: Free Day to Explore on Your Own (B, L, D - AI)
Today you’ll spend another day just relaxing and enjoying your time at the resort surrounded by a beautiful tropical beach in paradise. Of course, you can choose to add an additional activity as all of our vacations are fully customizable.

Day 5: Coastal Kayaking and Snorkel Adventure (B, L, D - AI)
Suit up! You’ll be paddling an ocean kayak to observe tropical islands, underwater marine life, and the beautiful Pacific coastline. A tour operator will transport you to the kayaking access point then you’ll go for a fun-filled guided kayak and snorkeling adventure. (Minimum age 7)

Playa Langosta’s long stretch of white sand beach invites you to walk, run, surf, or just lounge around in this typically quiet resort area. Located at the southern end of Tamarindo, it offers a laid-back place to enjoy your beach vacation without a lot of people and commercialism. Surfers also like to come to this beach to ride the big waves created by one of the better surf breaks during certain times of the year. Although people do swim here it has its risks with undercurrents and shallow areas of coral and rock. Only a 20-minute walk north and you’re in Tamarindo where the beach is the center attraction of town, lined with restaurants, bars, lounge chairs, and unique shops all along the oceanfront.
