Upon landing, a representative will greet you at the Liberia International Airport and provide transportation to your hotel on the Papagayo Peninsula located in the northwestern Pacific region of Costa Rica. You’ll literally walk the red carpet at Planet Hollywood Beach Hotel where you’ll be treated like royalty with a refreshing drink and a welcoming photo shoot. Instead of a key, you’ll wear a fashionable bracelet that will magically open the door to your suite and allow you to make cash-free purchases throughout the resort. Almost 300 modern luxury suites are tastefully designed within the hillside facing the beach and constant shuttle service is provided for those who prefer to ride rather than walk to the common areas. Seven themed restaurants serving a variety of international cuisine plus six bars are found on the premises although they are not all open at the same time. Planet Hollywood’s “Plugged In” App keeps you informed about restaurant hours, special events, and resort activities including an impressive list of daily instructor-led fitness and yoga classes. The STARS Kids Club offers fun themed activities, movies, games, scavenger hunts, and dance parties. For an optional upgrade, you can customize this vacation to become a STAR Class member that offers the service of a personal concierge plus access to an additional bar and beach club.

After enjoying a full day to explore your surroundings, you’ll be taken on the Buena Vista Mega Combo Adventure to give you the peak experiences of visiting Costa Rica. You’ll walk across hanging bridges, zipline over the forest canopy, zoom down a 1,200-foot mountain water slide, go horseback riding to a river with five pools of natural volcanic hot springs where you can soak in the warm mineral water and, if you want, paint yourself and each other with mud! You might even like to hike to the nearby Salitral Waterfall. Lunch is included at a private hacienda during this daylong adventure discovering the Rincon de la Vieja Volcano area.

One another day, to ensure you see plenty of Costa Rica’s amazing wilderness, you’ll go to Palo Verde National Park for a guided tour aboard a covered pontoon boat navigating the Tempisque River to see a variety of wetland wildlife. A unique feature of this park is the dramatic seasonal flooding that brings one of the largest groups of migratory birds to one place in Central America. When the water recedes during the dry season, local birds, such as the Macaw and the Jabiru Stork, flock to the scene to eat high concentrations of crustaceans left behind in the drying marsh. Either season, you’re sure to see an amazing amount of waterbirds and other interesting woodland inhabitants.

Back at your hotel, the Pumped Fitness Centre provides many instructor-led fitness and yoga classes to keep you in tune with your regular workouts. Two of the exercise classes, Aqua Fit, and Aqua Zumba are done in the pool plus one Pool Yoga class, excellent for those suffering from joint pain or arthritis. For serious training, you’ll find Kickboxing and a Legs/Glutes Bootcamp, both advanced classes. Not to worry, there’s a regular Bootcamp experience utilizing the gym equipment, and an interval training Beach Abs class, open to all fitness levels from couch potato to buff. Trainers provide modified instructions for those with injuries or areas of concern. Additional Sunset Yoga, Gravity Yoga (assisted with total body suspension), and Yoga plus Abs Pilates classes are available. Schedules for Day and Evening Activities can be found on your in-room TV or by using the Plugged In App. You’ll be surprised that entertainment can happen anywhere. You’ll need to keep an eye on the schedule as some performances may be poolside during the day or on the 2^nd floor. There’s no nightclub or casino but there’s often live music and dancing, including traditional folk dancing. Once a week there’s a beach party. You might catch a disc jockey spinning tunes at the Overtime Bar and Grill which also has a trivia night, pool tables, and ping pong. Plus, their big screen TV casts major sports events and award shows. You can watch all kinds of Hollywood previews, insider programs, and movies from the comfort of your room, as well as tune into a special Kids Club channel.

Your suite, the Junior Suite Garden View Room, features luxury bedding and black-out curtains, Planet Hollywood Satellite TV, high-speed WiFi internet, a coffee maker, private patio and a special rain shower in the bath. Authentic Hollywood memorabilia is found everywhere around the property including the various restaurants. Gusto Italian Trattoria provides a romantic, candlelit dining experience amid posters from famous Italian movies. You’ll find tempting pasta and salad dishes with an extensive wine list and decadent desserts. The Sunset Strip Steakhouse offers excellent tender cuts of steak and has optional private booths available for an extra charge. The Blue Star Tex Mex Cantina serves up tasty Mexican food and over at the East Sushi Bar you’ll find great entertainment watching knives flying through the air during your tableside service. Delicious hamburgers are at the top of the list at Guy’s Burger Joint and So Cal Gourmet Food Emporium offers an array of international cuisine, plus artisanal flatbreads and pizza cooked in a wood-burning oven. Expresso and other specialty coffees can be enjoyed at the Fuel Coffee Company. Be sure to ask about their “Happy Coffee.”

The hotel’s five bars each feature their own signature cocktails which makes bar hopping quite a fun experience. Most local and imported brands are included at the bars except for some of the premium brands. You’ll find a bar at each of the two swimming pools and bar service is available out on the beach. The black volcanic sand beaches at Papagayo can be hot on your feet so sandals are recommended. Protected by the Gulf of Culebra, the calm waters in this area are especially inviting for sportfishing and diving. The resort provides non-motorized sports equipment including water bikes which are a blast. Guanacaste province is the driest area in Costa Rica, so you’ll find the best beach weather here year round although there is a rainy season. The scenic Pacific coastline visible from the hotel is spectacular with green jungle covered hills. You’re likely to hear a tribe of Howler monkeys in the morning and possibly even catch them napping in the trees in the afternoon.
