Santa Elena, located 1,400 meters high in elevation is located within the Talamanca Mountains. Weather here is affected by both the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean, though more so by the Pacific. Due to elevation and cloud forests the area is usually covered with thick fog and cloud cover equating to a lot of precipitation.
