Imagine opening your eyes underwater and discovering yourself surrounded by friendly fish displaying a myriad of colors, shapes, and sizes. This private 3 hour guided tour will take you on a journey into the quiet magical kingdom of the Pacific Ocean where giant starfish dot the sandy bottom, curious pufferfish blow themselves into a ball at your arrival, and colorful angelfish dart all around you. Created only for groups of up to 8 people to ensure a personal experience, you’ll have the benefit of helpful bilingual guides showing you the best snorkeling places available with their passionate enthusiasm for sharing with you what they love best.
You’ll be picked up from your hotel and brought to the tour office where you will meet your boat captain and guides. Life jackets will be provided as you board the boat and safety instructions reviewed. Once onboard, the captain and crew will take you to several snorkeling locations based on the clarity of the water on the day of your visit. The modern boat, protecting you from the hot tropical rays of the sun with an overhead canvas bimini, will cruise along coastal beaches and nearby islands in search of the perfect spot for snorkeling.
When you’ve arrived, you’ll be given clean, quality snorkel equipment and those unfamiliar with snorkeling will have one-on-one help learning how to master the technique. Your guide will demonstrate underwater signals so that when you are swimming together, your guide can communicate with you. Often the guide will dive down and gently bring up specimens unharmed for you to view briefly from the surface. Because your group is small you’ll have ample opportunity to see everything.
After about 45 minutes, you’ll break for some fresh fruit juice and cold water before heading to the next snorkeling location. You might go to an island or to a rocky outcropping along a deserted beach. You’ll bask in the sea breezes and smell the salty air as you travel by boat from place to place. Your knowledgeable guide will help you identify both the underwater sea life as well as the tropical birds that may be flying overhead. Also, if you are interested in fishing, your crew will be happy to throw some fishing equipment on board as well.
You can choose to go snorkeling in the morning or in the afternoon and often that choice is best made depending on the local weather. During the rainy season, it is usually recommended to go in the morning hours. But if rain is not an issue, you may want to take your snorkeling adventure in the afternoon catching the sunset before heading back to shore. There is nothing quite like a Pacific sunset.
This 3-hour snorkeling tour includes a licensed boat captain, bilingual guide, all snorkeling and safety gear, cold water, fresh fruit drinks plus transportation from hotels in Tamarindo, the Flamingo Beach Resort or the Westin Playa Conchal hotel. One way transportation to the tour office can take up to 30 minutes depending on your hotel location. Combined time of snorkeling tour and round trip transportation is typically between 3.5 and 4 hours. You’ll want to bring along a towel, sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, a waterproof camera and wear water shoes. If you like, you can bring a change of dry clothing and snacks as only fresh juice and water will be provided. This is a great tour to take as a family immersing your kids in the beauty of nature's life size aquarium.
