The Canopy Zipline Monkey Jungle tour takes you into a private reserve, part of a larger conservation area that protects the tropical dry forest and its inhabitants. This special place is the home of many protected animal species including exotic birds, monkeys, lizards, wild boars and even the endangered jaguars. In the midst of a variety of native trees, twelve zip line platforms are strategically built around the upper branches so you can literally be “in touch” with this unique environment.
You’ll be picked up from your lodging in either the Flamingo or Tamarindo area and brought to the preserve where you can check in and meet your friendly, bilingual guides. After learning the safety instructions you will be fitted for your zip lining harness and given a helmet to wear. When everyone is ready to go, you’ll be led up to the first platform. The guides will demonstrate how to use the zip line equipment and answer any questions you may have. There are seven zip lines of varying heights and lengths. On some of the cables it may be possible for two people to zip line together.
Once it is your turn, your guide will hook your harness onto the first cable and off you’ll go flying over the forest canopy taking in amazing views. Another guide will meet you at the next platform and hook you onto the following zip line. You can ask the guides to use your camera or cell phone to take photos or videos for you.
High up in the tree tops you’ll have an unprecedented view looking down at the canopy and out over the Costa Rican landscape. In the distance, on a clear day you can see gorgeous panoramic views including neighboring mountain peaks and the Pacific Ocean. Below you, will be the rich colors of the forest, valleys, and streams.
Your guides will show you how to fly hands free like Superman or even upside down like a monkey! At the last zip line you will be given a special opportunity to swing through the jungle in the giant Tarzan swing.
After you come back out of the forest you will be given a treat of fresh fruit and a bottle of water in the picnic area, where you can look over the day’s photos before boarding transportation back to your lodging. Depending on where you are staying and local traffic conditions, one way transport can take up to an hour to certain areas.
