Overview
Today you will go on a private bird watching expedition with only other guests staying in the hotel. Your naturalist guide will take you into the cloud forests surrounding the Lodge and look for the rare Resplendent Quetzal as well as different bird species specific to this area. You’ll likely encounter other forms of wildlife along the way such as sloths, monkeys, reptiles or interesting insects; each day is different. You’ll be surrounded by air plants, known as epiphytes, such as orchids, bromeliads and ferns. This tour includes a bilingual naturalist guide and is only available to guests staying at the hotel. The hike through the cloud forest typically takes between 1.5 and 2 hours, starting and finishing at the hotel's reception area. Please wear enclosed hiking shoes, and bring along insect repellent, binoculars, and your camera. No transportation is needed from Savegre Mountain Hotel. Transportation is not included from other area hotels.
