Overview

The Original Canopy Zipline offers a truly authentic experience combining nature and adventure with its tree house style wooden platforms. Built in the original manner nestled high up in the branches or mounted around heavy trunks, these platforms allow you to appreciate the size and stature of being in a canopy of rain forest giants.

Located in a private reserve of lush primary trees, this half day tour features the popular Tarzan Swing and an opportunity to rappel 150 feet down to the forest floor and climb back up inside a hollowed out Ficus tree. In addition you’ll be zipping like a monkey through the trees along 10 cables!

When you first arrive you’ll be greeted by trained, professional guides who will explain the safety procedures and use of equipment. Here you will be fitted into your harness before hiking up the mountain to the Tarzan Swing. Along the way your knowledgeable guides will introduce you to the various forms of flora and fauna surrounding you.

The Tarzan Swing allows you to freely swing from the mountain top back and forth over the scenic woodlands and valley below. This optional activity, as well as all of your aerial exploits, will be safely managed by your guides using a fall-and-arrest safety system.

Once reaching the platform you’ll receive hands-on instructions about how to use the braking assembly. Then you’ll be hooked up and off you go zipping through the tree tops! Another guide will be awaiting your arrival at the next platform to transfer you onto the next cable.

Halfway through your zip line adventure, you’ll stop at a platform located way above a large hollowed out tree. You’ll learn how the Strangler Fig gradually wrapped its roots around the host tree causing it to die inside as the fig tree continued to flourish high up into the canopy top. The open trunk, full of nooks and crannies, then becomes home to a variety of woodland animal life while the fruit of the tree provides a valuable food source.

From high above you can choose to rappel approximately 150 feet down to the forest floor then climb back up through the middle of the giant Strangler Fig using a system of rope netting. Because the trunk now consists of webbed roots, you can see out into the forest as you ascend to the top.

Once you reach the top of the tree you’ll continue back up to the platform using a vertical rope ladder. Afterwards you’ll resume zipping through the jungle for the second half of your canopy tour including one ½ mile long cable with views of the Pacific Ocean on a clear day.

Between landing on the natural wooden platforms secured without nails to protect the trees, as well as the exhilaration of climbing inside of a Strangler Fig, you’ll see why the Original Canopy Zipline offers far more than just a zip line experience. They take great care to minimize the impact of people on the forest while maximizing the enjoyment of being surrounded by nature.

Children age 5 and higher may participate and a guardian must be present for children under the age of 12. Closed toe shoes are needed for hiking and climbing. Participants should be able to walk 15 to 30 minutes uphill and weigh less than 260 pounds. This tour is not recommended for people who have heart problems, seizure disorders, asthma, vertigo or are beyond the first trimester of pregnancy. Individuals of average health and fitness with the ability to climb vertical ladders should be fine.
