How much should I tip tour guides and drivers?
The following is a general of guide of how much you should tip tour guides, drivers and housekeeping. Of course, this is all dependent on the service that is provided. If the service is not very good, you should scale down. If the service is spectacular, you would want to give a little extra.
- Tour Guides (shared with other travelers) - $4 - 10 per person, per guide
- Tour Guides (private) - 10 - 20% of the cost of the service
- Shuttle Driver - $2 - 5 per person
- Private Transportation - 10 - 20% of the cost of the service (at the higher end if it is a long drive; please be fair :)
- Housekeeping - $2 - 4 per night
