Nestled in the jungle overlooking the scenic and wild Pacuare River, Pacuare Lodge is an oasis of eco-luxury. Listed in National Geographic’s Unique Lodges of the World and a member of Virtuoso Preferred resorts, this highly rated and recommended ecolodge provides a casual atmosphere and unforgettable experiences. Hotel amenities include a restaurant, bar, an infinity lap pool, yoga platform and massage services.
Pacuare Lodge is surrounded by the Pacuare Protected Zone, which in turn connects with one of the largest networks of protected zones in Central America, covering over 1.2 million acres. Wildlife is abundant here, and the forest is spectacular! There are even indigenous settlements within hiking distance of the lodge.
Getting to the lodge is half of the adventure. You have two options for arrival, whitewater rafting or a rough 4x4 ride. Most elect to raft in as the Pacuare River is one of the best whitewater rivers in the world! NOTE: River rafting may be cancelled if river conditions are not safe. Various packages are available, so be sure to verify that you are selecting the right method of transportation for your stay.
The ever warm and welcoming staff at the Pacuare Lodge is all from local communities. You'll find local Costa Rican charm and abundant smiles. The culinary experience is extraordinary. Fresh and quality ingredients are used for all plates, which are typically a fusion of Costa Rican and exotic dishes. The newly constructed 65 foot lap pool, surrounded by rainforest, is fed by mountain spring water and treated with natural salts instead of chemicals. A lounging area and pool bar complete this refreshing experience.
The rooms and suites at the Pacuare Lodge are extraordinary but keep in mind this is a remote ecolodge! All have views of tropical gardens, and many have river or jungle views from the decks or terraces. You will not have a television, the internet, or even air conditioning in your room, but you will enjoy the peace and tranquility of the surrounding rainforest. Check the Amenities Section for details.
Your stay at the Pacuare Lodge also includes two activities per night of stay, per guest. These need to be arranged directly upon arrival at the lodge, with the concierge, and are subject to availability. You will have the following options to choose from:
Remember that all luggage, food, and supplies are transported by an oarboat, so there are restrictions regarding what you can bring and how you pack it. The per person baggage allowance for the lodge is a maximum of 25 pounds, height 22in, width 22in, length 16 in. The lodge requests that you pack what you will be bringing with you separately before you are picked up to go to the lodge. Items that are not being brought to the lodge can be stored at their padlocked warehouse in Siquirres but doing so is at the guest's discretion. Pacuare Lodge and Pacific Trade Winds do not accept responsibility for any losses or damages.
Of course, the Pacuare Lodge is not for everybody. If your version of the perfect vacation is sipping margaritas by the poolside of an oceanfront all-inclusive resort, you probably should pass on this lodge. But if you have an insatiable sense of adventure, enjoy the great outdoors, and value local culture, the Pacuare Lodge just may be a perfect addition to your Costa Rica vacation. If so, give us a call and book your stay today!
NOTE: You cannot drive to the lodge, so please do not attempt to do so. Special arrangements are necessary and must be made at the time of reservation. Please contact us for assistance in your arrangements, 1-866-853-9426 ext. 1.

This staff is the best. We enjoyed getting to know them personally since we were there a few nights. We would have loved if some of them could have stayed our entire 3 nights instead of swapping out every 1-2 days.

This lodge was outstanding. The staff was really great. And the food was excellent. The raft rides in and out were a fun experience.

Incredible staff and service. We had a few problems with the water going out that night. Already without electricity, so no water made it more "rustic." Still an amazing place and I would come back.

The most memorable and impressive aspect of the trip. The guides and staff ensure every detail and personal attention is applied to the guests. The location is paradise, the food is a culinary delight. The villas are luxurious and the whole experience and activities were unforgettable.
