Beautiful scenery in the middle of the forest. Birds and animals were bountiful in the area. Location was good for walking to stores and other sights. Breakfast was personal and tasty.

Cala lodge was clean and set in a quiet environment with nice views and beautiful bird life in the vicinity. It was nicely sized and convenient walking distance to downtown, the nearby butterfly garden and the orchard garden.

No option for early breakfast when having early excursions

The staff was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. The room was clean and we had a great view from our balcony. It would have been better if the balcony had a larger overhang. We had to dry off the chairs each time it rained and we couldn’t sit out on the balcony during the rain like we were able to do at the Arenal Oasis Lodge.

Nice little lodge. Very disappointed in the taxi system in this area. Glad that some restaurants were within walking distance.

We LOVED this hotel. It was great for bird watching and in walking range to some great restaurants. The staff was excellent, nice and helpful.

The only comment on comfort would be that the pillows were not very comfortable. But overall we loved our stay here.

This was our favourite place to stay on the whole trip. We loved the nature walk in the grounds. We loved being able to see so many birds from our room, and that there is a vista of the constantly changing weather. Also, the tea and coffee always available in the main lodge, and very good breakfasts. Laundry was reasonably priced too. Eco friendliness of this lodge was also excellent.

We asked to put on a higher floor with a balcony- unfortunately this was not possible since the hotel was full. The rooms were quite small and a bit cramped. There wasn't enough space to unpack. Still we loved the location and the fact that the lodge was small and near the forest. Staff were very helpful.

The staff at the hotel is great. However, the room comfort is average. There are much better hotels in Monteverde than Cala Lodge with the same price point.
